Govt. Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College

Govt. Hazi Muhammed Mohsin College, Chattogram named after the name of the 19th century philanthropist of this subcontinent Hazi Muhammed Mohsin, is a renowned government educational institution in Chattogram. This centennial college has kept pace with national development with its century old legacy.

Under the auspices of the ÒMohsin FundÓ formed by the ``Waqf-state” of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin, this college was established in 1874 as Chattogram Madrasha In 1915, Madrasha education underwent a remarkable change and in 1918 a change named as ``New Scheme Madrasha’’ came into force to strengthen madrasha education. Chattogram Madrasha housed in Portuguese Building gradually developed into Islamic Intermediate College in 1927 to ensure higher education for the students of this region. In 1967 a new college named as Government Higher Secondary College was founded at the foot of the hill while Islamic Intermediate College kept running in the Portuguese Building. On 20 July 1979 through the merging of these two institutions, today’s Govt. Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College came into existence. At present Govt. Hazi Muhammed Mohsin College has become a pioneer co-education college providing quality education with moral excellence for the students belonging to higher secondary and tertiary levels.

Govt. Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College, Chattogram is a renowned college of the country, that bears the golden bubbles of sweet historical and monumental memories of 150 years. Here we gave managed to create an ideal environment in the college campus for the students to acquire knowledge and morality and also to nourish the spirit of hope and inspiration.

The courses we offer in this college, include H.S.C course for 2 (two) years, honors course for 4 (four) years in 14 subject, Masters courses in 12 subject. We have about 16000 students on the roll. Along with regular study courses, we arrange for a variety of vibrant co-curricular activities for the students so that they can discover themselves with the high potential abilities and enthusiasm. This college has up graded and modernized teaching and learning facilities like refurbished class room and seminar rooms, curriculum related scientific equipments multi-media devices smart boards, reference books in the seminar and library, multi-purpose-computer lab etc.
